Au D' Lox + B3
(OK Chemistry Majors - work out
this title)This was fun!
Purely a recreational painting "change of pace".
The painting is a compilation of several photos of the same little
bear as he made way
down the beach searching for crabs. Hard work! so why not kick back
and enjoy a comfy
rest on a soft-side dingy.
15 x 30 Oil on Canvas

The first ever Westward Cup held in 2010
celebrates the Sport of Kings
as it was done one hundred years ago. Owners, at the helm with their
skippers, sail
the same courses that were sailed by King George V, Charlie Barr and Sir
Thomas Lipton.
They have
found a name for this new tradition, "La Belle Classe"
For me as an artist this was a chance to see
history in real time, the only difference being the power boats
instead of steam powered launches and committee boats. ( there was
actually one steam launch)
To learn more about this inaugural event I
recommend reading
the report by Gerhard Standop from Cologne
thewestwardcupreport100902.pdf
And for an overall review visit Gerhard's site at
http://www.standop.net/voiles/
This unique event merits a series of
paintings...
As
of December 25th , 10 paintings have been
completed and shown below.
There are an
additional ten paintings
composed, sketched on canvas,
awaiting the
brush and more are planned.
This series would
not have been possible without the generosity of
the owners,
Jim Thom and crew of S.V.
Mariquita to whom the series is dedicated. |
